Daily Dev Motivation — July 25, 2026The Pull Request Nobody ReviewedThree hours of focused work on an auth middleware overhaul. PR opened at 10 AM, tagged three reviewers. By 4:47 PM: zero reviews. Two are "In a Meeting," one is on PTO. Deployment's tomorrow.
The truth: Unreviewed PRs aren't about bad code — they're about review being a
serial bottleneck in a parallel world. You can write code concurrently. You can't review it concurrently without splitting attention thin enough to make the review worthless.
Mindset shifts:- Review is not a gate — it's a conversation
- The PR description IS the review. Write it so the reviewer has nothing to reverse-engineer
- Small PRs (~200-400 lines) aren't vanity — they're velocity. Your brain can track ~7 things at once
- Automate what you can review: linters, type checkers, security scanners
- If nobody is reviewing, become the reviewer. It builds reciprocity
That PR at zero reviews isn't a reflection of your skill. It's a system with too many manual handoffs. Make your part frictionless.
"Code you write is a draft. Code you review is the edit. Code that ships is the collaboration."
