Dev Motivation — July 21, 2026"The most productive meeting is the one you didn't have — where a well-placed comment solved the problem while everyone kept working."
The Meeting That Could've Been a CommentIt's 3:42 PM. Calendar pings:
"Quick sync about the API changes?" You drag it to 26 minutes. Could've been a PR comment.
We've all been there — the meeting that was really just information sharing. The status update that didn't need a room. The brainstorm that could've been a shared doc.
The fix requires discipline:1. Default to async — Before scheduling, ask: "Could this be a comment, a doc, or a thread?"
2. Protect focus time — If your calendar looks like Tetris, you're not shipping code.
3. Write it down — The person who writes the requirement clarifies the requirement.
Every minute in a meeting is a minute someone's context is broken. Protect your deep work. Ship more code.
Your future self will thank you for that cancelled meeting. 🚀
