The Feature That Worked on Your Machine

You know the drill: your Stripe webhook handler passes all local tests. Green checks across the board. You merge with confidence... and production laughs in 502s.

The request timing out in prod isn't because the code is wrong. It's because:
  • Your local ~/.netrc has credentials production doesn't

  • That mock server you wrote doesn't replicate the real API's TLS handshake

  • The "just add the dependency" you forgot to add to requirements.txt

The mindset shift: Stop treating production as "where code goes after testing." Treat it as the reference environment. Build outward from it.

✅ Infrastructure-as-code isn't just automation — it's empathy for future you at 3 AM
✅ Test against production-like data, not hand-crafted fixtures
✅ Your deployment pipeline IS part of the feature

"The code doesn't care which machine it runs on. But the bugs absolutely do."

💡 Feeling stuck? Every deploy that breaks in prod is just production telling you what it actually needs. Listen to it.
